Suppose that the quantities whose values are represented by

Suppose that the quantities whose values are represented by p and n are related by a constant rate of change of n with respect to p. Complete the following table.

Solution

constant rate of change of n w.r.t. p:

delta n/ ( delta p) = constant

P1 , p2, p3...are the numbers under p column

n1, n2, n3 are the bumbers under n column

p1 = p2 - delta p = 18.1 - 8.9 = 9.2

n2 = n1 + deltan = 9.5 -4.45 = 5.05

delta(n2) = 2.8 -5.05 = -2.25

delta(n3) = 7.55 - 2.8 = 4.75

delta(p1)/delta(n1) =8.9/-4.45 = delta(p2)/delta(n2)

delta(p2) = -2*(-2.25) = 5

p3 -p2 = delta(p2)

p3 = p2 + delta(p2) =18.1 + 5 = 23.1

delta(p3)/delta(n3) = delta(p2)/delta(n3)

delta(p3) = 4.75 *(5/4.75) =5

p4 -p3 = delta(p3)

p4 = 23.1 +5 = 28.1
