Determine whether the given function y = f(x) is even, odd, or neither even nor odd. Do not graph. f(x) = x^2 + 4x even odd neither even nor odd

Solution

Given function is f(x)=x2+4x

To check wherther the function is even, odd or neither, we\'ll replace x by -x in the function. If we get f(-x)=f(x), then the function is even. And if f(-x)= - f(x), then the function is odd. Else neither.

So

f(-x) =(-x)2+4(-x)

f(-x) =x2-4x

It is neither equal to f(x) or -f(x).

Hence the function is NEITHER EVEN NOR ODD.
