Enzymes that contain both a catalytic and regulatory subunit
Enzymes that contain both a catalytic and regulatory subunit are often advantageous to the control of metabolic pathways. Why?
a. Alternative substrates can be employed depending on the regulatory subunit present
b. These enzymes have a greater effect on deltaG for the reactions they catalyze
c. More than one of the choices listed
d. Multi subunit enzymes are resistant to allosteric control
e. There are more ways to regulate enzymatic activity
Solution
Enzymes that contain both a catalytic and regulatory subunit are often advantageous to the control of metabolic pathways because they have more ways to regulate the enzyme activity. If they have allostreric site which is other than active site, then the other subtrates which bind to allosteric site can be used.
