- The respiratory illnesses such as influenza and common colds are mainly caused by the Viruses, such as Rhinovirus. These viruses grow at temperatures of 33 degree C, that is present in the mucus of human nose. It is widely observed that these illnesses become more aggressive during the late fall, winter and early spring. And this is nothing to do with the exposure to cold weathers.

- The main reason for more incidence of common colds during late fall, winter and early spring is due the people spending more time in the closed environment during cold weather, which alleviates the transmission and spread of virus more prominently from one person to another (social factor).
