Explain two prejudices that you carry and analyze how you can reduce those prejudices with the help of the prejudice-reduction techniques given in the textbook. Imagine you are a teacher in a classroom and you see a few students expressing prejudice or discrimination toward other students based on their academic performance. What techniques would you use to attempt to reduce these negative behaviors

Two prejudices that I carry:

1. I have a prejudice towards some religions. It is mainly created in my mind by media. I will meet people of this community ot verify the impression that media creates. But with a prejudiced mind, my observation may not be pure.

2. I have prejudice towards rural people. It is because of my experience but I need ot widen my experience and exposure ot change my opinions.

I will use following techniques to reduce these negative behaviors.

1. I will establish guidelines for classroom behavior with students at the beginning of the school year about respect. When conflicts arises, expectations will be clear.

2. I will create an environment in which all children are treated with respect. I will never call any student intellligent or duffer on any basis. I will recognize that all children have different types of intelligence.

3. I will make my students understand that children are keenly aware of differences and must learn to accept them.

4. I will not make an effort to diminish authentic differences as a means of avoiding conflict.
5. I will be cautious of my behavior and ensure that it sets an example for her/his students.

6. I will not expect immediate behaviour change. I will remember that behavioral change is slow. Children are exposed to a range of influences outside the classroom which educators can either reinforce or challenge.
