During which reactions in glycolysis does oxidation occurSol
During which reaction(s) in glycolysis does oxidation occur?
Solution
ANSWER: Oxidation occurs in glycolysis in converting NADH to NA+
In the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate a NAD takes an H molecule and turns into NADH. The NAD has being hydrogenated (reduced). The glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate has lost an H so has being dehydrogenated (oxidized).
So in the glycolysis process you have 1 oxidation reaction and 1 reduction reaction.
