The fig shows the forces acting on holes A, B and C of a plate in equilibrium as shown.F_1=100N and F_2=F_3=50N. Determine the resultant of the force system by using the graphical method the analytical method.
Solution
Here, we determine the net forces along the vertical direction and along the horizontal separately (Taking respective components for F1, F2 and F3) and then add up to get the net force.
Net force along the vertical = F1 + F2 * 80/100 [since AB = 100]
That Fy = 100+40 = 140 N
Again, net force along horizontal = F3 + F2 * 60/100
Fx = 50 + 30 = 80 N
Therefore the resultant force would be 80 i + 140 j
