Calculate the magnitude of the linear momentum for each of t

Calculate the magnitude of the linear momentum for each of the following cases a proton with mass 1.67 Times 10^-27 kg moving with a velocity of 6 Times 10^6 m/s. Answer in units of kg m/s a 1.6 g bullet moving with a speed of tai 303 m/s to the right. Answer in units of kg m/s. a 8 kg sprinter running with a velocity of 12.6 m/s. Answer in units of kg m/s. Earth (m = 5.98 Times 10^24 kg) moving with ma an orbital speed equal to 28100 m/s. Answer in units of kg m/s.

Solution

Linear momentum p=mv

a) p = 1.67x10^-27 x 6x10^6= 1.002x10^-20 kg m/s

b) p = 1.6/1000 x 303 = 0.4848 kg m/s

c) p = 8 x 12.6= 100.8 kg m/s

d) p = 5.98x10^24 x 28100= 1.68x10^29 kg m/s
