You have just physically installed a Blu-ray drive into a Windows XP computer and used the accompanying installation disc to configure the drive. You reboot the computer as directed and attempt to test the drive by playing a Blu-ray disc, but it doesn’t play. You verify that your installation procedure is correct, all the connections are firm, and that the video and audio subsystems are up to specifications. You suspect that the drivers may be the problem. What do you do?

A. Put the installation disc in the computer again and update the drivers.

B. Use Device Manager to update the drivers.

C. Go to the Website for the Blu-ray drive manufacturer and update the drivers.

Solution

B and C. You can either use Device Manager to update the drivers for the Blu-ray drive or download the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s site and update the drivers. Going to the Microsoft Windows Update site may also be a way to update the drivers.
