A pipe with a flow of R-134a at 25C, 750 kPa is throttled to a pressure of 165 kPa. Find the specific volume and exit temperature of the flow if velocity remains constant throughout the pipe.

Solution

AT 25 C TEMPRATURE AND 750 KPA PRESSURE

ENTHALPY=86.4 KJ/KG ; SPECIFIC VOLUME=0.000828m3/kg ( from table)

since throttling is an isenthalpic process , so enthalpy will remains comstant

so at 165 kpa and H=86.4 kj/kg

exit temprature = - 14.8 c

specific volume=0.0316m3/kg. ( from table)
