A quadratic function is given Find its maximum or minimum va

A quadratic function is given. Find its maximum or minimum value and find its domain and range. g(x) = 1- 6x - x^2

Solution

g(x)= 1-6x-x2

vertex ,x=-b/2a = 6/-2=-3

g(-3)= 1-6(-3)-(-3)2= 10

Therefore the maximum value is 10

Domain

There is no restriction on x. Hence the domain is (-infinity,infinity)

Range

As the maximum value is 10,therefore the range is (-infinity,10]
