Solution

Here we are given that there are 85 shoppers led to the responses.

34 bought toilet paper,

65 bought cereal,

and 27 bought both.

How many bought toilet paper but not cereal?

total number of persons = bought toilet paper + bought cereal

= 65 + 34

total number of persons = 99

There are total 99 persons who bought toilet paper or cereal.

Bought toilet paper but not cereal = total number of persons - number of persond who bought cereal - number of persons who bought both

= 99 - 65 - 27

= 7

Option c) is correct for first one.

How many bought neither?

The number of persons bought neither are 0.

because 34 bought toilet paper 65 bought cereal and 27 bought both.

We have only this information.

so the number of persons bought neither are 0.

And option d) is correct for second one.

Use the following information for the following two questions. A survey of 85 shoppers led to the responses: 34 bought toilet paper, 65 bought cereal, and 27 bo
