Solution

Cells that form fibers and ground substances in the extracellular matrix.............. FIBROBLASTS. Extracellular matrix is present outside the cells within the extracellular space. Extracellular matrix is anchoring the cells for maintaining the complexibility of the cell structure. Fibroblast within the connective tissue secretes the extracellular matrix. Extracellular matrix shows fiber made of proteins such as collagen for strength, elastin for elasticity and glycosaminoglycans (polysaccharides) which have been secreted by the fibroblasts. These glycosaminoglycans which mostly linked to proteins termed as proteoglycans form the amorphous gel like ground substance. Thus Extracellular matrix macromolecules have been secreted by the fibroblasts.
