We know that the sample size is a small sample taken from a huge population. It is very similar to the survey systems that are running around the globe. The purpose of choosing a sample from a huge population is to use it to predict the behavior of population. Instead of performing calculations on the large population, small sample is chosen to reduce the efforts, with the assumption that the original population will also behave as a small sample of it will behave. Now, if we will choose a very small sample from a huge population, there will be significant differences between the behavior of the sample and the population. On the other hand, if we choose a comparatively larger sample of the population, the differences in the behavior of sample and population will be less as compared to the smaller sample. In other words, there will be less variability in the sample and population behavior. Therefore, “Sample size” is inversely proportional to “variability”. Hence, as we increase the sample size, the variability will decrease.

We know that expected frequency of the outcome in several trials is same as the average probability for outcome across all the trials. Therefore, we can say that frequencies are observables such that if they are available, they can be used to predict probabilities for the next trials and if they are not available, they can be predicted. Probability and expected frequency mainly arise in repeated experiments.
