A)

total resistance: RA = ( 1/(2R) + 1/(2R))-1    = R

the power is, PA = V2/RA   = (6.0) 2  /9 = 4 W

B)

total resistance: RB = ( 1/(2R) + 1/(2R) + 1/R)-1    = R/2

the power: PB=V2/RB   = (6.0) 2  / (9/2) = 8 W

C)

total resistance: RC = ( 1/(2R) + 1/(2R))-1   + R = 2R

power: PC=V2/RC   = (6.0) 2  / (2x9) = 2 W
