Graph using the slope and y-intercept
2x+5y=-25

Solution

use the slope-intercept form y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept
put the equation 2x+5y=-25 into this form
2x+5y=-25
5y=-2x-25
y=(-2/5)x+(-5)
therefore the slope is -2/5 and the y-intercept is -5
plot a point at (0,-5)
from this point, because the slope is the rise over the run, move 2 units down and then move 5 units to the right which brings you to the point (5,-7)
now connect the points (0,-5) and (5,-7) with a straight line
notice that both ordered pairs satisfy the equation 2x+5y=-25
2*0+5*(-5)=-25
0+(-25)=-25 and
2*5+5*(-7)=-25
10+(-35)=-25
-25=-25
note: you could have used 2/(-5) for the slope
therefore at (0,-5) you move 2 units up and 5 units to the left to end up at point (-5,-3) and then connect the points
the point(-5,-3) is on the line: 2(-5)+5(-3)=-25
-10+(-15)=-25
-25=-25
