What is the key anatomical difference between the leaves of C-3 and C-4 plants? Where does the Calvin cycle take place in C-3 vs C-4 plants?

Solution

C 3 vs C 4 plant anatomy variations:

Photosynthesis:

It is the process of producing sugar or organic food by utilising the sunlight. Usually it take place in two steps they are light reaction and dark reaction.

In light reaction ATP and NADPH 2 are produced.

In dark reaction CO2 is reduced with the help of ATP and NADPH2 to produce glucose

In dark reaction two types of cyclic reactions occur one is Calvin cycle or C3 cycle and other one is Hatch- Slack cycle or C4 cycle

The primary CO2 acceptor is Phosphoenol pyruvic acid. Oxaloacetic acid produced early in the cycle which was stable. Carboxylase enzyme is PEP carboxylase and Rubisco. Two carbons are fixed. For fixation of single CO2 require 5 ATP and 3 NADPH. Cycle will happen even under low CO2 concentration also.
