Using Fig. 4.5, estimate the following quantities for a 80% Cu-20% Ni alloy: (a) the liquidus temperature, (b) the solidus temperature, (c) the percentage of nickel in the liquid at 2160_F, (d) the major phase at 2160_F, and (e) the ratio of solid to liquid at 2160_F.

using phase diagram of Cu-Ni which is easily available on google. For 80-20 (Cu-Ni) we can deduce that

a. the liquidus temp is about 1400 degree celcius or 2552 F

b. the solidus temp is about 1350 degree celcius or 2462 F

c. at 2160 F , the percentage of NI in liquid is around 82%

d. the major phase is liquid at 2160 F

e. the ratio of solid to liquid is about 0.8
