13 write the equation of the line in slope intercept form co

13) write the equation of the line, in slope intercept form, containing the point (-1, 2) & parallel to the line 3x+y=5

14) write the equation of the line, in standard form, containing the point (-2,-1) & perpendicular to the line 2x+y=7

Solution

13) 3x+y= 5

y= -3x+5

slope = -3 since it is parallel to new line so slope of new line will be -3 as well

now m= -3 , x1= -1 and y1= 2

we know that slope point formula

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y-2=-3(x+1)

y-2=-3x-3

y= -3x-3+2

y= -3x-1 answer

14) 2x+y=7

y=-2x+7

slope = -2 , since it is perpendicular to the new line , its slope will be

m= 1/2

x1=-2, y1=-1 slope = 1/2

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y+1=1/2(x+2)

y+1 = 1/2x+1

y= 1/2*x    answer

13) write the equation of the line, in slope intercept form, containing the point (-1, 2) & parallel to the line 3x+y=5 14) write the equation of the line,
