Write a paragraph about the consequences of consanguinity on the risk of bearing a child expressing a rare recessive genetic defect.

Solution

Consanguinity which means blood relation, people having same ancestors. When these blood relatives get marry they are called as consanguinious marriages. They are so many pros and cons in these sort of marriages. Although the pros are low and cons are high in these sort of marriages.

The Pros include :

Good family relations.

Marriage stability.

Financial matters such as heir of property.

These are only pros in consanguinious maariages where as the cons are more and are as follows.

Loss of biological fitness.

Expression of recessive genes: As they share common ancestors this lead to expressing of recessive genes which leads many disorders

Increase in foetal mortality rate.

The off spring will be prone to rare genetic disorders.

As they share specific haplotype antigens it prevents in initiating pregnancy.

Rate of abortion is also high.

These will lead to chromosomal disorders.

Apart from above the risk of carrying heart, liver diseases is more. These people are more likely to diabetic. Even multiple malfunctions were also observed in these sort of marriages.
