Decribe the operation of a variable displacement axial piston (swash plate) pump, indicating the means by which its output is varied?

There are number of pistons in a cylinder which is rotating. There is also a plate called SwashPlate which is stationary, and on this plate pistons rest. Swash Plate sits at an angle to the cylinder. Now, during rotation, each piston sucks fluid through half revolution and push fluid out during the other half.

Now, depending on the angle of swash plate, output is decided, as amount of discharge is dependent on the movement of piston which further depends on the angle of swash plate.

Output is decided according to the swash plate angle. If swash plate is made perpandicular to axisor rotation, then there will be no output.
