Using the metal property of thermal conductivity would lead
Using the metal property of thermal conductivity, would lead be a good metal for a heat sink in a laptop? What other considerations should be made if you wanted to use lead in a laptop?

  Solution
Purpose of heat sink is to increase heat transfer from electronic componet to environment. So we need material with higher thermal conductivity to increase rate of heat transfer as a heat sink material.
Most common heat sink materials are Alluminium (thermal conductivity is around 200 W/mk) and Copper (thermal conductivity is around 400 W/mk). Lead is having thermal conductivity of around (30W/mK) so ultimately by using lead as heat sink we will be reducing heat transfer rate of unit volume of heat sink by 6 to 13 times that of aluminium or copper. So lead is definitely not a right choice as a heat sink material for laptop.
Also lead is posonous material so should be avoided.
