In todays lab the goal is to determine the water potential o
Solution
Water potential is measurement of the potential energy in water & drives movement of the water through plant or plant cell.it represented by the equation system = total = s + p + g + m. And Water moves from a higher water potential to the lower water potential. Water molecules are moving randomly because they have kinetic energy, solute molecule[dissolve in water] always lower water potential than pure water, and pure water have higher water potential, that means lower water potential = solution is more concentrated, And internal water potential [] of plant cell are more negative [–ve] than the pure water, so that it cause water move from soil into the plant roots through osmosis and
the water potential [] is affected by
1.Pressure potential,
2. Solute potential
In the animal cells movement of water into & out of the cell is affected by the concentration of the solute on both side of cell membrane. And water are move out than cell will shrink. And water move into cell than cell swell may burst. presence of a cell wall in plant cell prevents cells from swelling or bursting, and turgidity of plant cells is rising up when the cell cannot take\'s up the more water because of the presence of plant cell wall but the pressure gradually build inside of cell and this interfere in the process of the osmosis
Hypothesis Ans-
1.Your goal is to determine the water potential of potato tissue by few methods like changing the concentration of solution by using different concentration solution like sucrose as your solution than the water potential change in potato cell because of changing in solute potential. By using any solution which having higher solute potential, than you will eventually get fluctuation in water potential of potato tissue, conclusion water potential not same as the healthy growing potato cell.so resulting cell will gain or may lose water according to the inside water potential of cells.
2. water potential of experimental potato tissue or healthy growing tissue are same only on one condition, when the concentration of solution is same as the inside the potato cell, than there will be no change in mass so you will find same water potential in both tissue either experimental potato tissue or living healthy tissue,
