Can you identify how energy flows through an ecosystem Can y
Solution
Energy flow in ecosystem is basically in the form of heat by food chain. Ecosystem includes living (plants, animals, microrganismand non living things (sun, soil, climate, atmosphere etc) and the interactions between them. The food chain in our ecosystem comprises of herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and with every passage of energy from one organism to another there is a 70-80% loss of energy which is in the form of heat. So we can take an example where in green plants absorb sunlight, Co2 and water from surroundings and synthesise carbohydrates. These green plants are then eaten by herbivores like deer, cow, so the energy is tranferred from green plants to deer/ cow. Deer will be eaten by lion/ jackle, so again energy will be transferred from deer to lion/ jackle. Once lion/ jackle die, they will be eaten by eagle/ vulture (scavengers). Scavengers will then release nutrients in the environment and again the nutrients will be recycled. So the energy is never exhaused but recycled.
