Explain the requirements for Ca2 and ATP in skeletal muscle

Explain the requirements for Ca^2+ and ATP in skeletal muscle contraction and relaxation.

Solution

REQUIREMENT OF CA2+ IN MUSCLE CONTRACTION AND RELAXATION: The ionic element released from muscles during contraction and relaxtion. the release of calicum helps in propagating these stages. the action potential are electrical signals that says muscle tissues cells to contract . as a result the calcium release in the sarcoplasmic reticulum of cells.the calcium pass through cytoplasm and bind the troponin and tropomysin molecules in the actin filament of muscle cells. the binding of calcium allows to change the shape of troponin in the actin myosin site.then myosin connects to actin and they form a cross bridge that makes muscles cells to contract .after the contraction is completed the calcium is removed from cells.then the muscles are come in to relaxation state.............

Requirements of ATP in muscle contraction and relaxtion:ATP is very important for muscle contraction because it breaks the bridge of actin and myosin filaments making ready for myosin for next contraction.it gives myosin to a higher energy state. The energy released during ATP hydrolysis changes the angle of the myosin head into a \"cocked\" position, ready to bind to actin if the sites are available. ADP and Pi remain attached, myosin is in its high energy configuration .so ATP is useful to break the cross bridge of myosin.the ATP stops to form cross bridge is called muscle relaxation...............
