If I have a tank that has just been emptied of orange juice

If I have a tank that has just been emptied of orange juice at a temperature of 3°C and then started a rinse cycle with 65°C water, what would happen to the air pressure in the tank if I closed all of the inlets?

a.         Increase

b.         Decrease

c.         No change

Solution

(a)Increase

Temperature and pressure are directly proportional to each other, that’s the reason why pressure increases when temperature increases vice versa.

When you rinse the vessel with water of 65 °C it will increase the temperature of the vessel, thus the speed of the molecules present in the vessel will increase, the force with which the molecules will go and hit the container will also increases, this will increase the air pressure inside the vessel.
