Find out i for t > 0 in the circuit shown in Figure 1.

Solution

Here applied voltage is 20 volts DC supply. So under Dc supply inductor act as short circuit and capacitor act as an open circuit. then current i will only flow from 20 Volts to 6 ohms and then to 4 ohms and finally reaches 20 Volts negative terminal.

total resistance R = 6+4= 10 omhs

i.e. R=10 ohms

Therefore i=20/10

=2 Amperes

i= 2A
