The goal of this assignment is to encourage students to identify issues, problems, and needs in society (local, regional, national, or global) that may have engineering solutions.

When problem scoping, you should think about who the problem affects, where the problem occurs, when the problem occurs, what the problem entails (describe using as much detail as possible), how the problem exists or continues to persist, and why there is a problem. At this point, you may not have the answer to the “why,” but through searching on the web, your lived experience, and other resources that you have available, try and posit the “why” behind the problem, if it’s not obvious.

Each student should problem scope and submit at least three distinct problems. Students should not provide solutions for these problems, at this point. However, the problems should potentially have an engineering solution.

Problem Scope Test (Senior Design Specific):

If the answer to ALL the questions below is “Yes,” then your problem passes the senior design test and you can submit your assignment.

If the answer to at least one of the questions below is “No,” then your problem does not pass the senior design test and you should go back to problem scoping.

Can my team and I address this problem, through an engineering solution, within the next academic year?

If the answer to this problem already exists, will my team and I work on an improvement to an already existing answer?

Provide citations in IEEE format where necessary.

PROBLEM-1 DEGRADATION OF ENVIRONMENT DUE TO DOMESTIC WASTE

WHO- The problem affects all the people (and their health) who live either in cities or villages.

WHERE - mostly in the rural and urban areas.

WHEN- This problem occurs on daily basis as household waste is generated everyday

WHAT - The problem causes all types of environmental pollution.health issues to the people living nearby.

HOW -due to conventional approach of people to throw waste nearby

WHY- lack of a proper and advanced (automated) system to collect and treat different kind of waste accordingly.

PROBLEM-2 RELATED TO AVAILABLITY OF DRINKING WATER AND ITS MISMANAGEMENT

WHO- each and every life (human being,plants,animals etc) is getting affected by it.

WHERE-although its a world wide problem but major affects are seen in underdoveloped and developing counteries

WHEN- its a daily basis problem across the world

WHY -due to unbalanced use of water by human beings & polluting water by industrial waste discharge & not recycling water.

WHAT- its a measure issue not only for us but also for the upcoming generations.water is a basic requirement for living organisms.

HOW- there is no natural clean water source available today as even ground water is polluted.

PROBLEM-3 EFFECTIVE UTILIZATION OF ELECTRICITY

WHO- especially industries,humanbeings get affected by shortage of electricty

WHERE-both at sending (gentrating) and receiving (consumer) side

WHEN- failure of generating station,fault occurence,high load demand,poor wheather conditions occurs

WHAT- since electricity has become a basic requirement now a days.shortage of electricity affects our working functionality.

HOW-mismatch between demand & supply

WHY- limited amount of source available for electricity generation.and improper use of electricity by humans
