Q1: What is the difference between electric flux and electric flux density?
Electric Flux is E.A (A= area of a surface)
Q2: What does is mean \" not parallel to the direction of polarization\" ?
Let electric field lines are normal to the surface in this orientation shown in the figure, how the dipole moment not parallel to the polarization vector?
Thank you.
Solution
The Electric Flux is the measure of flow of the electric field through a given area and it is (electric flux) is proportional to the number of electric field lines going through a normally perpendicular surface. The SI units of electric flux is volt metres (V m).
A Electric flux density is also called as electric displacement. Electric flux density is the measure of the intensity of an electric field generated by a free electric charge, corresponding to the number of electric field lines passing through a given area. Electric flux density is denoted by letter D and its units are coulomb per square meter.
