The quantitative subtlest of the graduate record exam (GRE) has a mean of 500 and a standard deviation of 100. What quantitative GRE scores are so Debian that they occur with a p=0.06 or less
Solution
let, x= the score from which the prob. of occurence becomes 0.06 or less
then, z(0.06) = (x-500)/100 [ here we are calculating the upper 6% scores]
z(0.06) = 1.554774 =(x-500)/100 i.e (x-500) = 155.4774 i.e x = 655.4774
so, the score 655.4774 or more than this will occur with a prob. of 0.06 or less!
