Calculate the percent error that would be used in the A280 n

Calculate the percent error that would be used in the A280 nm reading of BSA at 1 mg/mL in the presence of RNA at 30 µL/mg.

How do you add the RNA absorbance to the theoretical BSA absorbance? Thanks

Solution

Percent error or Percentage error : it is defined as expression of the difference between a measured value and accepted value.

Percent error = ( experimental value) -----   accepted value / accepted value X 100 %

                      = 30 x 10 -6   ---- 1 x 10 -3 / 1x 10 -3 x 100 %

                      = 29 x 10 -3 x 100% = 29 x 10 -1i

BSA has an extinction coefficient value of 0.7 for a 1mg/ml solution at 280nm
