Three marbles are chosen without replacement from a box containing 2 green, 5 red, 6 yellow, and 4 blue marbles. Let x be the number of yellow marbles chosen. A). Find and graph the probability distribution of X. B) Find the mean of the random variable X.

(I posted my work in pic attached - not sure I worked out the right answer though).

Solution

the method will go like for 0 yellow ball to 6 yellow ball as there are total 6 yellow ball.

i give u an example for 3 yellow ball

the probability for 3 yellow will be 6C3/17C3

Similarly find the probability of all cases and you have to plot the graph for that..

on x axis take the number of balls and on y axis take the mean.

in second part take the average of mean in all the cases.
