Example . Determine the mass of the air in a room whose dimensions are 4 m* 5 m 6 m, at 100 kPa and 25 \'C. (R=0.287 kPa·m2/kg·K) 6 m 4 m AIR p = 100 kPa T = 25°C S m ME 311 Lecture 4

Solution

The Universal gas equarion for ideal gas, PV=mRT

Where, P = Pressure in KPa

V =Volume in m3

  M =Mass in kg

R = Gas Constant KPa.m3 / ( Kg. K)

T = Temperature in K

V = Volume of the Room = LxBxH

= 4*5*6 = 120m3

  m = PV / (RT)

= 100*120 / (0.287*298.15)

= 12000 / 85.56

m = 140.25 Kg

 Example . Determine the mass of the air in a room whose dimensions are 4 m* 5 m 6 m, at 100 kPa and 25 \'C. (R=0.287 kPa·m2/kg·K) 6 m 4 m AIR p = 100 kPa T = 2
