A bag contains 6 red marbles, 3 blue marbles, and 7 green marbles. If a marble is randomly selected from the bag, what is the probability that it is green?

7/16

Solution

Here we have total number of marbles are 6red + 3 blue+7green = 16 marbles.

Total number of all possible outcomes to select for one marble out of 16 is = C(16 ,1 ) = 16

i.e. n(S)= 16 where S= sample space.

one marble is selected from green marbles= C(7,1) = 7

i.e. n(E)=7

Therefore using defination of probability we have ,

P(E) = n(E)/n(S) = 7/16

So, option (1) is true.

A bag contains 6 red marbles, 3 blue marbles, and 7 green marbles. If a marble is randomly selected from the bag, what is the probability that it is green? 7/16
