A TV manufacturer is interested in the effects of tube conductivity on four types of coatings. An experiment was performed where each of the four types was replicated four times. Perform an analysis of variance for this data. Is there sufficient evidence to conclude that the coatings have an effect on conductivity? Which coating would you suggest using in order to minimize conductivity? Run the analysis again using a log transformation. How does it affect the results if the response is the log of the conductivity?Solution
(A) Based on the material used in coating we can say that coating have an effect on conductivity or not
As per given data
during first coating and first conductivity taking average of those both:
taking average on 4 coatings we get
first time with four coatings
= 143+152+134+129/4 = 140
second time with four coatings
= 141+149+136+127/4 = 138.25
Third time with four coatings
= 150+137+132+132/4
= 137.75
Fourth time with four coatings
= 146+143+127+129/4
= 136.25
so we have taken all the four averages
conductivity is the amount of electrons that pass from one place to another place, where there is a transfer of
information occurs.
so , from all these four averages
first conductivity will be higher
140 so we can use that four coatings for higher conductivity
for minimising conductivity we can use fourth coating procedure which is 136.25 and those four coatings
(b) For also log values as the value increases log value will be increased
