37. We have f(x) = 7 – 3x and g (x) = 2x – 3. If f(x) g(x), then 7 – 3x 2x – 3 0r, 7 + 3 2x + 3x or, 10 5x

       0r,   2 x i.e. x 2.

38. f(x ) = 8x – 9 and g (x) = 3x – 11.   If f(x) g(x), then 8x - 9 3x – 11 or, 8x – 3x 9 – 11 or, 5x -2    

        or, x - 2/5

39. y1 = 2x – 7 and y2 = 5x – 9 . If y1 < y2 , then 2x – 7 < 5x – 9 or, 9 – 7 < 5x + 2x or, 2 < 7x or 7x > 2 or,   

       x > 2/7

40. y1 = 2x + 1 and y2 = ( -1/2)x +6 . If y1 < y2 then 2x + 1 < ( -1/2)x + 6 or, ( 2 + ½) x < 6 – 1 or, 5/2 x < 5

      Or, x < 2 (on multiplying both the sides by 2/5)
