If you had a breeding colony of wolves and you wanted to make Chihuahuas and Great Danes, how would you do it? What traits would you look for? What proportion of the individuals would you breed to make the changes happen more quickly? How about if you wanted to maintain maximum variability?

Solution

The following traits will consider for developing a new variety:

Chihuahua’s qualities: attackers, loyalty, clannish nature with other animals,

Great Dane who are gentle giant, qualities: tall height, large body, fast growth, aggressive for strangers

To gain such traits, the dogs of first generation crossed with Chihuahua [pure breed] and then their offspring who have large body should successive cross with Great Dane [pure breed].

To maintain maximum variability, alternate cross with Chihuahua and Great Dane pure breeds need.
