In this week’s Journal, reflect on your ability to persuade others when presenting topics. What made you effective? How did you overcome the anxiety normally associated with business presentations?

Requirements

Your Journal should consist of a minimum of 300 words, and no more than 500 words. The Journal must be concise, well-written, and consistent with the requirements. Please make sure to reflect on what you learned. It is important to consider the intangible variables affecting the implementation of change within the organization. The Journal exercise provides you the opportunity to discuss the impact this week’s lesson had on you.

Solution

My writing and my observation on business presentations is based on this week\'s lesson:

Firstly, try and incorporate discipline in the process of developing the presentation. Practice the topic and make it relevant for the audience. This will help you become an effective speaker during the presentation. Practicing will also make you lose your inhibitions. The more you practice, the more confident you will become.

Secondly, use a positive body language. Use of non verbal means of communication is an important aspect of any business presentation. Make an eye contact with your audience. Use of positive and effective body language will help you connect with the audience and this will also boost your confidence as a speaker.

Thirdly, do a proper research on the topic that you are about to present. This will make your presentation good and you will be able to answer all the questions and queries of the audience post the presentation.

Fourthly, keep business presentations simple and to the point. Business presentations have a purpose and it is best to stick to that purpose. Meaningless meandering from the point will distract the audience and they will lose interest in the presentation.

By implementing the above principles while preparing a business presentation and then subsequently presenting it in front of your audience you will ensure that your presentation is effective. You will also gain on confidence by implementing principles of practice, positive body language etc.
