Use the fundamental identities to find the value of the trig

Use the fundamental identities to find the value of the trigonometric function. Find cos theta, given that tan theta = -2/5 and sin theta > 0. is in quadrant ll. 5 squareroot 29/29 squareroot 29/2 5 squareroot 29/29 5 squareroot 29/5

Solution

given tan=-2/5

opposite side=2, adjacent side=5

hypotenuse =[22+52]=29

tan<0,  sin>0 => cos<0

cos=adjacent side/hypotenuse

cos=-5/29

rationalise denominator

cos=-(529)/29
