Solution

The patient protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is passed in 2010, which allows the American citizens to access the affordable health care.

1). As per the ACA, the insurers cover the health care insurance to adults on parent’s plan till the age of 26 years (but not 30 years).

2). Insurance providers are not allowed to fix the annual and lifetime spending limits.

3). The ACA allows the services of HMO (health maintenance organization) and PPO (preferred provider organization) through the “Affordable Insurance exchanges.”

The differences in the access to the health care services (heath disparities) do exist in the Unites States (U.S.). The following are some of the causes of health disparities in the United States.

1). Race and ethnicity: The racial differences and ethnic backgrounds that include differences in certain cultures, discrimination, differences in employment that may be due to poor education are the leading causes of health disparities in certain regions.

2). Sex and gender: The disease occurrence and incidence of disability varies among the gender and people of different ages.

3). Differences in economic status: The poor nutrition and lack of health insurance limits the health status of people. Approximately more than 27% of the young Americans have no insurance coverage for health.

4). Geographic location: People living in the urban regions generally have more access to the quality health services than those that are living in the rural regions.

5). Disabilities: Disabled people are less likely to access the health care services and other community services than the normal people.

The following the helpful measures to reduce the health care disparities:

1). The health disparities due the economical differences, geographic region and disabilities can be effectively reduced by the implementation of the Remote Area Medical clinics (RAM clinics). Through this health care plan, people with no or less insurance can receive the medical services from a number of physicians, nurses and other medical staff members.

2). Increasing the cultural awareness among the people and avoiding generalization.

3). Recruiting the medical staff from different regions or recruiting the bilingual medical staff.
