A series of inductive interactions are necessary for vertebrate eye development. Describe the morphological changes accompanying eye development and how FGF 8 and Pax6 contribute to this process (be sure to include experimental data or mutant phenotypes to support your statements).
Solution
FGF factor and signaling is meticulously essential for the formation of lens during development of eye whereas the expression of Pax2 and pax6 proteins is essential for the formation of optic stalk and retinal expansion during early embryonic development. These protein expressions can be examined via “immuhistochemistry” and flow cytometry of Pax-6 deficient mice or knockout mice & experimental procedure depicts that the lack of Pax6-retinal specific enhancer protein is leading to formation of dorsal expansion in optic stalk whereas FGF-gene knockout mice is leading to no expression of protein to for lens.
