I am told that putting a nail in a baked potato makes it cook faster. Can anyone give me an explination for this from a heat transfer perspective?
Solution
See it is very simple ..just a concept of fins
When potato kept at outside sorrounding it will lost the heat due to convection ..when we attach a nail to it.just acts like a fin...so inaddition to heat lost due to coduction also taking place simultaneously so it will cool faster..
