Identify which of the following filters are recursive and which are non-recursive. For each filter, identify the coefficients a k and b k.

y[n] = (x[n] + x[n-1] + x[n-2])/3

y[n] = (x[n] + x[n-1] + x[n-2])/3

Solution

y[n] = (x[n] + x[n-1] + x[n-2])/3

in this expression the out put depens on only on present and delayed or previous inputs but not on past output i.e thare is no feed back. so system is non recursive.

let us consider coefficients of input signal ak a1 =a2= a3 = 1/3;

if we consider feedback coefficients or previous outputs bk = 0.
