Given a stock of 10 M HCl describe bow to make 50 ml of 10 m

Given a stock of 1.0 M HCl, describe bow to make 50 ml of 10 mM HCl. Given a stock of 32% NaCl, describe how would one correctly make 500 ml of 5.6% NaCl.

Solution

1. we know that N1 x V1 = N2 x V2 , N1= 1.0 M , V1= ?? , N2= 10mM =10/1000 M= 0.01 M ,V2= 50 ml

so , V1= ( 0.01 x 50 )/ 1 = 0.5 ml

thus one has to take 0.5 ml of 1 M HCl and dilute it to 50 ml so as to get 0.01 M HCl

2- we know that N1 x V1 = N2 x V2 , N1= 32% , V1= ?? , N2= 5.6% ,V2= 500 ml

V1= ( 500 x 5.6 )/32 = 87.5 ml

thus by taking 87.5 ml from the stock of 32% and diluting it to 500 ml we can get 5.6% solution .

 Given a stock of 1.0 M HCl, describe bow to make 50 ml of 10 mM HCl. Given a stock of 32% NaCl, describe how would one correctly make 500 ml of 5.6% NaCl.Solut
