The Ideal Gas Law says that pressure varies inversely with volume and jointly with number of moles and temperature.

For a certain gas pressure is 6 atmospheres when volume is 10 Liters, number of moles is 4, and temperature is 280 Kelvin.

Find the number of moles when the pressure is 12 atmospheres, the volume is 9 Liters, and the temperature is 300 Kelvin.

Solution

PV/nT = constant

P_1V_1/n_1T_1 = P_2V_2/n_2T_2

10*6/4*280 = 12*9/300*n_2

n_2= 12*9*4*280/300*10*6 = 24*28/100 = 6.72 moles

The Ideal Gas Law says that pressure varies inversely with volume and jointly with number of moles and temperature. For a certain gas pressure is 6 atmospheres
