What defines the beginning of the hepatic portal vein?
Solution
The hepatic portal vein is a blood vessel within the body which carries blood from the pancreas, gallbladder, gastrointestinal tract and the spleen to the liver. This vein is formed by the merging of the superior and inferior mesenteric vein alongwith the splenic vein. The merger takes place just behind the head of the pancreas.
