Solution

The personality and individuality of a child are influenced by the genes and the environment in which the child grows in. To understand it better let us take an example of skin color. The trait of skin color is a polygenic trait, i.e., it is controlled by more than one gene. So far 378 genetic loci have been determined that influence the skin color. These genes codes for proteins, most of them regulates the melanin synthesis. Thus, it is very much evident that skin color is determined by the genetics of the parents.

However, The environmental factor that is exposure to the sun has a direct role in the pigmentation of the skin. The melanin pigment protects us from the harmful radiations coming from the sun. Thus, as a defense mechanism, the pigment is synthesized below the skin and darkens it.

Likewise, other traits are also controlled by the genetics as well as the environment. The genetics would decide which DNA we are going to have and how we would react to the environment, but which gene on DNA would activate is largely determined by the environment we live in.
