Problems related to current food supply:

Unlabeled-genetically modified food items whose marketing is allowed by the government is a major threat to the health of a consumer because these unlabeled food items do not aware consumers about the various ingredients that can result in lethal allergic reactions if consumed.

Presence of mycotoxins in processed non organic food items: toxins of fungal origin are referred as mycotoxins that have cancerous properties, destroys nervous system and leads to hormonal imbalance in the body if consumed in large amount. Examples of commonly found mycotoxins are: aflatoxin that is commonly found in peanuts and maize.

Ochratoxin is commonly found in coffee beans, maize,rice, bread and cereals.

Fumoniscence:which is found in corn

Chemical in the form of coloring agent, additives or preservatives that are Incorporated in food items are main cause of metal poisoning for example arsenic used in chicken, propylene glycol in alcohol, yellow food coloring agents like #5 and #6, etc alters the normal physiological functions of a body.

Weedicides,pesticides or chemical fertilizers have a tendency to accumulate in body fat as they are non-biodegradable so never eliminated from human body. Some of them even cause cancer, destroys the functioning of vital organs.

Hence it is concluded that present trend of food supply is not safe and require strict rectification.Food laws must be amended so that healthy food is circulated in the market.
