Apparent power in an RLC circuit is equal to total voltage t
Apparent power in an RLC circuit is equal to total voltage times total current when:A.it is a series or parallel circuit. B.the circuit is not at resonance.C. the circuit is at resonance. both A and C
Solution
Both A and C.
Either in Series or Parallel RLC Circuit, during resonance circuit will be purely resistive since inductive reactance is equal to capacitive reactance i.e XL = XC i.e imaginary term will be zero, so the impedance of the circuit will be purely resistive.
Since the circuit is purely resistive, power factor is unity. So sin(power factor angle)=0 i.e Reactive power is equal to zero and Active power is equal to (V)(I)(1)=VI ;So the Apparent Power=Active Power in the circuit which is equal to total voltage times total current.
Hence the answer is Both A and C.
