What happens is when a phage infects the bacterial cell it incorporates itself in a bacterial genome (prophage) lysogenous cycle. In the bacterial genome it startsto make protiens for phage assembly and produces phage nucleic acids to make new phage particles
During this process, phage genome, with it replicates some of host bacterial genome part also which gets packaged in viral particeles ....thus newly formed virus particles contain (phage genome+ bacterial genome parts ). This new phage after lysis and release infects another bacterial and during integration of viral genome in new bacteriums host genome it inserts host genetic material of earlier infected bacterium also .... hence leads to genetic recombination....
